Ninja Journey

Reflection
This experience produced one of the best moments of my entire life, and is sure to lead to many more great times to come! I learned my own limits, and even some of the unexpected sacrifices that you have to make in order to become the best. Throughout my time training for American Ninja Warrior, the dedication involved and how well I was able to stick to my practice schedule actually surprised me. When you really enjoy working out and treat it like a game, is it really working out? I managed to never get too sick of rock climbing or ninja training, and was always meeting new people who were like minded which was very awesome! I made a lot of new friends at the ninja and climbing gym, creating relationships that are sure to continue into the future as I continue to pursue my dreams of being on the show. I also learned that through hard work and dedication, things that you thought were impossible can be within reach. I never thought that by the end of my season I would be able to do a standing back tuck, or a one arm lock off, but my consistent practicing really payed off! Also, I'm really noticing a difference at track practice, too. I decided I wanted to try to sprint and in my first meet running the 200m, I lettered! Also, my pole vaulting is getting better as well. The only down side to this project was the amount of time I had to give up. I basically lived at the gym for a few months, spending almost 3 hours a day training to become a ninja. This didn't include the hour of track lifting after school, as well. I didn't end up with a lot of time to rest and was pretty burnt out by the end of the season. Ultimately, this is something that I have fallen in love with and will continue hopefully throughout my entire life!
If I had to start over I wouldn't do any of my training differently, but I would take better care of my hands along the way.
